Please take notice that the Town of Lomira enacted Ordinance No. 2025-01 Amendment to Chapter 9 Recycling Ordinance at their regular monthly meeting on November 11, 2025. This amendment to Chapter 9 was enacted to comply with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) revision of the administrative code that oversees Responsible Units’ (RUs) effective recycling programs and other aspects of Wisconsin’s recycling law. The ordinance is effective upon posting. The Town of Lomira Treasurer will be collecting tax payments and issuing dog licenses at the Lomira Town Hall, N10479 County Rd AY, Knowles on Wednesday, December 31, 2024 from 9 am-4 pm and on Saturday January 31, 2025 from 9 am-3 pm. Please be aware that that there have been changes for USPS postmarks that could result in late tax payments. A recent U.S. Postal Service (USPS) rule change means that mail being sent outside the 50 mile radius from a regional processing center (Milwaukee or Minneapolis) will not be postmarked when the post office receives but will be postmarked a day or two later when it is processed at the facility. Wisconsin law dictates that mailed tax payments are timely only if postmarked on or before the due date. Taxpayers relying on those postmarks should note it’s more important than ever to walk your mail into your local post office and ask for a hand-stamped postmark at the counter. This is the best way to ensure your mailed payment will be timely.

Snow pushed onto roads and into road right-of-ways can become a hazard for snow plows and other vehicles. 

Please be aware that pushing snow or other materials onto or across highways is illegal. Ridges, ice, and other materials left by this action can cause damage, accidents and even death.  Piling snow in the right-of-way can damage snowplow wings and jeopardize the safety of snowplow drivers and others. You can be held responsible for damages caused by these actions.

These activities are prohibited by Wisconsin state law statute 346.94(5), “PLACING INJURIOUS SUBSTANCE ON HIGHWAY. No person shall place or cause to be placed upon a highway any foreign substance which is or may be injurious to any vehicle or part thereof.” 
 
Town of Lomira Ordinance Chapter 17 also states that “Snow or ice removed from private property shall not be stored in any manner that will obstruct or limit vehicular or pedestrian vision, movement or access, or in any way make Town rights-of-way unsafe.”
